Evidence-Based Practices
Evidence-based practices are medical practices supported by research using the scientific method. The IPEC has created and compiled documents relating to evidence-based practices for the medical issues below. To view the publicly available documentation, click the respective links.
Central Line - When a central venous line is used on patients, a small number of them may develop infections. However, there are a number of evidence-based practices that can minimize the number of patients that will develop these infections.

Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) - When mechanical ventilation is used on patients, a small number of them may develop pneumonia relating to the mechanical ventilation. However, there are a number of evidence-based practices that can minimize the number of patients that will develop ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP).
